 Our learning in Eagle Owls

We went on a scavenger hunt to find clocks. We have been learning to read different times on analogue clocks and had to spot the clock and record the time it showed.

We have enjoyed practicing our sketching skills by doing some observational drawing in our schools grounds in Art.

We are learning all about life in Kenya and have been sharing the West African folk story of Chinye. We thought about our own treasure that we would like to find inside our gourd.

In our English learning we have been innovating The Little Green Dinosaur and have started to write our own versions of a repetitive story.

For Enterprise week we have been hard at work deciding on a product that we would like to create, creating posters and adverts to market our products and creating the product itself!

We had a forest school morning with Mr Charlton to learn all about dinosaurs. We looked at some fossils and did some observational drawings of plants.

In Maths, the Year 2s have been learning all about fractions and explored how to find 3/4 of amounts.

We celebrated all our hard work towards our class assembly with some bubble fun in the sun!

We have been learning about Countries and Capital Cities in the United Kingdom. We learned about some landmarks in England and made a poster to show what we had learned.

We have been learning how to compose our own songs. We have taken songs we already know and changed the song lyrics or used glockenspiels to adapt the tune. We loved playing our own version of ‘Alice the Camel’.

The Year 2 children have started learning about Fractions in Maths. We learned how to write ½ as a fraction and then used chalk outside to represent it in different ways.

In Science, we have been doing an experiment to find out what plants need to grow. We planted cress seeds and put them in different places (in the window, in a fridge and in the dark) to find out the best conditions to help them grow.

In Handwriting we warmed our fingers up with a 'tracing map' video and we traced the shapes to music by Mozart.

We read a book called 'Have you filled a bucket today?', all about how to spread happiness. We thought about how we could make people happy, and then wrote post it notes to Badgers class to say how amazing their assembly was.

We started our Science topic on plants by going on a plant hunt around the school grounds.

We have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes in Maths. Some of the Year 1 children went on a 3D shape hunt to see which shapes we could find.

We are working hard on improving our reading skills. In Year 1 we read our home reading book 3 times a week to an adult in school, and in Year 2 we have been enjoying 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' for our reading project story.

In Science, we have been learning about animals and their diet. We did our own research using non-fiction books to find out where animals live and what they eat, deciding whether they were carnivores, herbivores or omnivores.

We made some super stadiums out of Lego and other materials linked to our performance work in Music. We used our teamwork and discussion skills to make a creation that we all liked and contributed to.

We had great fun in Gymnastics with PH sports, practicing our skills of jumping and landing safely.

We enjoyed forest school with Mr Charlton and made some fantastic winter window artwork using natural materials.
