 Our learning in Eagle Owls

We launched our new writing project unit 'The Tin Forest' by building our very own trees. We worked hard on our own, in pairs or threes to gather the natural materials for our creation and think about how to represent the different parts of the tree.

We have been working hard on our problem solving skills in Maths, using known number facts to help us solve more difficult sums.

We practised our musical performance skills using the glockenspiels. We thought carefully about the correct notes we had to play and worked on playing on the beat and in time to the backing music.

We have been exploring time in Maths and have been learning to read and make o'clock and half past times.

We have been thoroughly enjoying our reading project story - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

We have been enjoying our gymnastics sessions with Active Trowbridge in PE - we loved trying out different balances and rolls.

We have started our unit of work in Art on Sculpture. We used playdough to practice the skills of moulding, pinching, squeezing and indenting, ready to create our own owls from clay!

We have been practicing our joining skills in Design and Technology. We have been learning to use a glue gun safely and precisely ready to make our toy cars!

Some of us have been working really hard on the presentation of our writing .... just look at our fantastic work!

We have finished off our work on addition and subtraction in Maths and are looking forward to moving on to learning about shape!

We have been finishing off our History topic on toys by writing a diary entry from our perspective to show off what we have learnt.

We have been exploring different types of materials in Science. We have been thinking about what materials different items are made from.

We had a great time outside with Mr Charlton. We had a wonderful time exploring the autumn leaves, helping to sweep them up into piles to bag them and having a little fun at the same time!

We have been fantastic story writers, using a story mountain to plan our own stories and writing them using all the super sentence writing skills that we have been learning.

We have been thinking about food in Science, and planning out our own menus demonstrating a balanced diet.

We have been learning how to use the chrome books in Computing, practicing our independent logging in skills and learning how to navigate the keyboard.

We have been learning to identify the beat in Music, and have started to explore pitch by playing along to some songs on the glockenspiels.

We have been exploring spirals in Art! We used different art media to create their spiral patterns, varying the size and speed, as well as the type of lines we used.

We have been learning to play some playground games in PE. We have been practicing our listening and turn taking skills, as well as following the rules carefully to make the game fair.
