 Our learning in Badgers

  • For Enterprise week we have been hard at work deciding on a product that we would like to create, doing market research to find out what might sell the best, working out the cost of the different components that we need and finding the best price, using this information to work out how much to charge per item in order to make the best profit, creating posters and adverts to market our products and creating the product itself!
  • We finished off our chair models in Art, using all the designing and planning that we had done to ensure that we had finished models to be proud of!
  • We have been learning about longitude and latitude in Geography, and used these on world maps to find different places.
  • We have been working on our phonics skills, thinking about different spelling of the /k/ sound and reading and spelling words with these sounds.
  • We focused on our handwriting, making sure we had the correct lead ins and outs and that our letters were all the same size.
  • We have been exploring using different materials to create art work.
  • We have started the term with a cold write, writing a story with a character flaw. We look forward to seeing the skills they learn to make their stories even better through the term.
  • We have been working on the British Empire in History, and have been planning and writing an essay on 'Why did Britain once rule the largest empire the world has ever seen?'.
  • We have started our unit on Poetry in English and worked hard to use great vocabulary to create a setting description based on the video we watched.
  • We have been honing our powers of persuasion by writing letters to Mrs Turley to ask for more play equipment at school... let's see if our letters work their magic!
  • In RE, we have been exploring Buddhism as one of the key religions of the world. We have been finding out about the important places and text for Buddhists, as well as key celebrations and people.
  • In English, we kicked off our new unit on persuasive writing by looking at features of persuasive texts, ready to begin to use these in our own writing.
  • We have been working on composing a piece of Hip Hop music using YuStudio, a Digital Audio Workstation, and created a drum track.
  • We have been planning and writing blogs and diary entries in English, working hard to produce some great and polished final pieces.
  • We have been learning all about properties of materials in Science, looking at reversible and irreversible changes.
  • We have been learning to edit and manipulate images in Computing.
